The Harvest Music Festival

Harvest is built on 30 years of community, a shared passion for music, and the hard work and dedication of thousands of volunteers. As our board begins to ponder the next 30 years, we have decided it is time to officially evolve our name to better reflect who we have actually become – a much broader festival but still grounded in blues, roots, rock, Americana and so much more.

We are excited to announce that our festival will now be known as the Harvest Music Festival.

We want to assure our patrons that the Harvest experience will remain the same. Thank you all for your support and an amazing 30 years.

Save the Date!

After much anticipation, we are finally able to announce that Harvest is being held this fall between September 14th-19th, 2021 in downtown Fredericton! We have all felt the gap that the absence of live music has left in our community and around the world. We’re filled with joy as we watch New Brunswick hit its vaccination targets, and we are so pleased to invite everyone to Harvest 2021.

According to Harvest’s General Manager, Jeff Richardson, “The ‘Path to Green’ is the path to Harvest.” Jeff explains in a short video that we are excited to be getting everyone back together and that people can expect all the details in a special launch announcement coming June 30th. “We’re looking forward to getting back to normal and welcoming you downtown for some great live music and lots of good community,” says Jeff.

This year will also mark Harvest’s 30th anniversary, a very exciting milestone for the festival. We are thrilled to celebrate in true Harvest fashion through the experience of live music. So mark your calendars for September 14th-19th! We are working hard to plan a safe festival for everyone. In the meantime, stay tuned for June 30th when we release the full details!

Colin James and Steve Earle & The Dukes: First headliners announced for Harvest 2017

The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival today announced Colin James and Steve Earle & the Dukes will be two of the headliners for its 2017 edition. Tickets and passes to Harvest 2017 will go on sale when the full line-up is announced this May 11 at 11:00am (AST). Additional 2017 performers will be released over the coming months.

“These two legendary artists are in the middle of an exceptional period of creativity and prominence in their respective genres and so it feels like the perfect time to present them to our audiences,” said Brent Staeben, Harvest’s Music programmer. “While they share an authenticity and a deep reverence for their musical lineage, they each appeal to a very diverse audience that has followed the twists and turns of their many re-births over their long careers. They are the perfect pair for this early announcement and to lay the foundation for the 2017 edition of Harvest”.

When six-time Juno Award winner Colin James first hit the scene a quarter century ago, he became an instant guitar hero, mentored by the legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan. Today, he’s riding high on the release of his latest Blue Highways which has been on top of the North America blues charts since November. Two years ago, he took a sold out Harvest crowd on a rip-roaring trip through his musical catalogue that left many in the house scampering to head home and revisit his old recordings. Even after 14 acclaimed albums and 30 years in the business, Colin remains a crowd pleaser at the top of his game.

A protege of Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, the iconic Steve Earle quickly became a master storyteller in his own right, penning songs that would be recorded by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, Emmylou Harris, Waylon Jennings, Travis Tritt, The Pretenders, Joan Baez and countless others. 1986 saw the release of his debut record, Guitar Town, which shot to number one on the country charts and founded the term “New Country.” What’s followed has been an extremely exciting and varied array of releases from the multiple Grammy Award winner and 2016 saw him tour a 30 year anniversary of that ground breaking first album. Harvest is pleased to debut Steve Earle and the Dukes at our 2017 edition.

The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival is Atlantic Canada’s largest annual music festival, drawing up to 85,000 fans to the streets of Fredericton each September. Colin James, Steve Earle & the Dukes and more will headline the 27th annual edition this September 12-17.

Harvest Wows With A-List Talent

The Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival today announced a staggering slew of international talent, adding Classified & David Myles, The Sheepdogs, Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble Celebration, Justin Townes Earle and Blackberry Smoke, as well as Matt Andersen & The Bona Fide, Blackie & The Rodeo Kings, Wintersleep, Mike Zito & the Wheel, Busty and the Bass and nearly two dozen additional acts to its 2016 edition, September 13-18.

“Harvest is kicking off Year 26 by expanding our offerings to even wider audiences, lowering our ticket prices and once again affirming ourselves as Eastern Canada’s premiere musical experience,” said Brent Staeben, Harvest’s Music Programmer. “This is our most impressive line-up to date and we’re thrilled to present this incredible array of national and international headline acts, which positions New Brunswick as a major destination event on the North American festival circuit.”

Greatful marks Juno Award-winning hit-maker Classified’s first effort since five-time platinum David Myles collaboration, “Inner Ninja,” and the two friends will team up for this special show that they crafted especially for Harvest;

Trends come and go, but from their cramped Saskatchewan jam space to the cover of Rolling Stone and platinum records, Juno winners The Sheepdogs remain committed to rock n’ roll excellence;

Five years to the night that Levon Helm delivered one of the most memorable performances in Harvest history, Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble Celebration will assemble an incredible cast including Amy Helm, Matt Andersen and Levon’s entire Midnight Ramble Band for an ultimate celebration;

A forefather of contemporary americana, Justin Townes Earle’s raw baritone voice has dazzled across knock-out albums Yuma and Harlem River Blues, and at venues from Bonnaroo to Carnegie Hall;

Building on the Skynyrd southern rock tradition, with a healthy dose of outlaw country and elements of bluegrass, gospel and R&B, Blackberry Smoke return to headline their own Harvest show.

Rounding out its full ticketed schedule, Harvest also announced Hot Toddy, Stephen Lewis & After Funk, Glamour Puss, Ross Neilsen, Vogue Dots, Erin Costelo, Downtown Blues Band, Theresa Malenfant & The Instigators, Matchstick Mike & The Chain Smoking Altar Boys, The Alex Bailey Swing Band, Roxy & The Underground Soul Sound, Earthbound Trio, Laurent Couturier & The Rusty Mikes, Amanda Jackson Band and SG & The Tone Kings. Performers showcased on the Festival’s numerous free stages will be announced later in the summer.

“We understood that fans were going to expect a significant offering of new talent this year, following last year’s celebration of performers from our first twenty five years,” said Staeben. “This schedule is fresh and dominated by artists who’ve never before played Harvest, and who will reach out to new audiences to keep the Festival energized and thriving in the coming years,” he said. “We are very proud to bring this amazing array of talent to Fredericton.”

These artists will join previously announced headliners Drive-By Truckers, Robert Cray, Metric, The Revivalists, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Champion & His G-Strings, Plants and Animals, Stars, The Besnard Lakes and more for the 26th annual Festival.
